Sharing delicious discoveries

Oct 11, 2016

If you haven’t yet discovered the inner-city wine route (aka “Tuning the Vine”) which takes place on the first Wednesday evening of the month after First Thursdays, then diarise 12 October.

I recently joined wine friends and novices on a balmy Wednesday night and made some delicious discoveries.

My wine of the evening was the Reyneke Organic White 2015 (95% Sauvignon Blanc and 5% Semillon) offering delicious freshness – just what I was looking for after walking the bustling pavements and tasting maybe just a few too many hearty reds.

The nose offers cool, green aromas of kiwi fruit and lime zest with a subtle floral lift.

The palate shows exquisite balance between freshness, texture and fullness. Flavours of green apple, asparagus and lime linger on the finish.

Feeling rejuvenated, I returned to tasting more red wines and was rewarded with the Reyneke Biodynamic Cornerstone: a classic Bordeaux-style blend with depth, concentration and moreish, sexy minerality - but that is a story for another time…

The Reyneke Organic White is available at major retailers and fine wine stores and sells for approximately R60 per bottle. It’ll be a great match for asparagus dishes, goat’s cheese tarts, sushi and the best fish and chips.
